Yes, "actor" still has a definite male connotation for me. But "actress" does seem a bit sexist and dated. When I think "actress" it's Barbara Billingsley (June Cleaver) who pops into mind, not Hillary Swank. Perhaps it's the "o" in "actor" that implies the masculine. Maybe we should drop both terms and call them all "acters".
