Unicorn Ceilidhs present...
FRIDAY 26th JANUARY 2007 - FENDRAGON

Fendragon are a ceilidh band based in Cambridge, who play traditional English folk music, with some Irish, Scottish, French and American influences. They are a popular feature of the local ceilidh scene, and in demand further afield. Mary Humphreys (keyboards) and Anahata (melodeons) are both well-known, and here they have teamed up with Dave Holland (fiddle) and Gina Holland (flute), to create a versatile band that love playing for dances.

"Lovely stuff" according to Verity Sharp, BBC Radio 3

The Caller for the evening is the young and effervescent Andrew Swaine, also from Cambridge. Andrew believes that ceilidh dancing '…is lively, accessible and unencumbered, a living tradition of community dancing for fun. Enjoyment is more important than accuracy'!   http://www.swaine.me.uk/

The interval entertainment this month is from the Brafront Guizers, who will perform their particularly off-beat but definitely seasonal Mummers Play at Hitchin! http://tdrg.group.shef.ac.uk/Gallery/Brafront2004.htm

Unicorn Ceilidhs take place generally on the last Friday of the month at Hitchin Town Hall, Brand Street, Hitchin, Herts.

Doors open at 7.30 for an 8.00 p.m. start, with an 11.30 p.m. finish – entry is only £8.00 for adults and £4 for children under 14. Tickets are available at the door, or in advance from 01582 733113 / 724261
