Thread Name: Origin: Waltzing with Bears
Subject: RE: Origin: Waltzing with Bears
We here in the Wash DC area (where Songster Bob is also) have heard "Waltzing With Bears" for many years...for years before Mudcat, even. With a large folk community, there weren't many good songs that didn't sneak in here. The sone was sung, shared, parodied (Jon Eberhart's "Waltzing with Whales" and verses added, like Bob's.

slight drift...

It's amazing how verses can escape and get new attributions and credits.....for instance, in the link above on 18 Dec, 03 by Foolestroupe, it takes you to "The Key of 'R'" in the database, and gives ME as the source. Since updating the database is so tedious, that confusion has stayed for several years, although it is thoroughly corrected in a thread. It is well to do a search of the threads whenever sources are needed...chances are someone has explained the facts... (The "Pirate" song..("you can't be a Pirate with all of your parts") is another example)
