Thread Name: Color Me Blue-Lonely-Arms empty now[Coloring Book]
Subject: ADDPOP: My Coloring Book
Lyrics World has this transcription of Barbra Streisand's cover of the song. Kitty Kallen and Sandy Stewart are also listed as having recorded it. It's a really lousy transcription, so I've fixed it as much as I can recall (with help from a Hal Leonard fakebook, which doesn't have the introductory verse). Who Wrote That Song? says the song was introduced by Kay Ballard, which sounds right to me.
MY COLORING BOOK Barbra Streisand Written by Fred Ebb (words) & John Kander (music), 1962
For those who fancy coloring books And lots of people do He's a new one for you
A most unusual coloring book The kind you never see Crayons ready, very well Begin to color me
These are the eyes that watched him As he walked away Color them grey
This is the heart that thought He would always be true Color it blue
These are the arms that held him And touched him, then lost him somehow Color them empty now
These are the beads (tie) I wore Until she came between Color them (it) green
This is the room I sleep in And walk in and weep in And hide in that nobody sees Color it lonely, please
This is the man The one I depended upon Color him gone...
THE SECOND BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM, 1963
(the male version has a green tie, says the fakebook. You can figure out for yourself how to changes the he's and she's)Or could it be that the requested song is "Love Is Blue"?
