My roses were doing great until about four years ago, when a wretched insect called thrips came along. Science hasn't developed any workable control for thrips.

If you have thrips in your area, then avoid the white and pink roses you spoke of. The lighter the flowers, the more thrips are attracted to them.

There is an order of hardiness in roses, depending on the color of flower. This is it, from best to worst:

red
white and pink. darker pinks are better
yellow
lavender

If I were you, I would go the library and start reading and requesting books on roses before putting in a whole fence line of roses.
