I can't find any hits on the 'net using that song title and qualifying the search to look for song lyrics. Either it wasn't a song published in the normal fashion or you'll need the songwriter's name to zero in on something that might have it. I can't say I've ever heard the song personally and can't guess who it might have been given the time and place you describe him being.
There are several web sites (which I don't have links to at the moment) that specialize in "Western" culture including music, both trad and new. You might do a search to locate some of those then look on each one for a clue to the writer/song you're seeking. Sorry, that's all I can suggest...
