One time, I was a little tired and unwittingly left my dictation machine recording while I answered the phone, so I recorded myself without knowing it. When I played it back, I heard a Wisconsin countyr yokel. I don't sound like that when I know I'm being recorded.
Since I pride myself in being a Wisconsin country yokel (even though I moved to California in 1971), it gave me satisfaction to know my Wisconsin accent comes through when I'm relaxed.
But I have to say I'm not very satisfied when I hear my singing on a recording. I think I sound pretty good "live," but maybe I don't.
