Bob, it doesn't appear to be the same song - I don't think those words scan well to the tune.

Here is a version close to Mike Seegar's in the Digitrad.

BTW Bob Flesher got the tune out of "Brigg's Banjo Instructor." (1855?) Anyone have that book, and if so, does it include lyrics?

PS I don't know why I said the Mike Seeger version is similar to Burl Ives etc. The tune is similar but the lyrics are completely different except the chorus.
