Ha ha! 'Ballad of the Green Beret' is a good one. When I first heard the lines "Fighting soldiers from the sky/Fearless men who jump and die," I instantly had a mental image of marines on Paris Island leaping off the top of a tall building and plunging to their deaths below. With that sort of masterful elliptical writing, I didn't realize until later that they probably had parachutes!
