A song that my old singing partner -the late Vic Baker(Professor Wingnut) used to sing. I can remember the majority of it, but would be grateful for clarification of some of the words. Vic always said it came from a poem/song published in the Cork Examiner but where he got this info - and he sang the song for 35+ years to my knowledge - I have no idea. The first verse as I have it is
Forth went the Royal mandate, through all the British lands And this shal be ten thousand pounds who brings him to our hands A wicked Irish rebel, he's five foot seven high Light hair and fresh comlexion and he winks with his left eye
Vic's rendition of that bit was - 'Light hair and FLESH complexion .....' a lovely Mondegreen which is really too good to change!)
Any more information would be gratefully received Dave
