If you live in a hot climate try to shade the planter pots in summer because they'll get too hot and dry too fast for the plants to thrive. I think you're in the north of the U.S. so it's not as much of a problem, but here in Texas I've built a loose stone wall in front of a bunch of potted plants to keep them from overheating. Otherwise I can't keep them wet enough to grow all summer.
