Hi Rhiannon - you might want to consider an irrigation system if you're liable to hosepipe bans or if you're away a lot, but you'll find most things will thrive in pots with the right soil and plenty of water. Outdoor bush tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, runner beans etc are good to start with, but have fun experimenting.
(That Hosta you dug up from your garden for me is flourishing because in a pot it's not snail bait!)
