Thread Name: Lyr Req: Song about anatomy
Subject: Lyr Add: BODILY HARM (Emerson & Mary Murphy)
Here is a really silly song by some relatives of mine that manages to combine the mention of body parts with clichés, which was its aim all along.

BODILY HARM - © Emerson & Mary Murphy

He remembers your bedroom eyes; you remember his Roman hands.
You were both in over their heads with your feet stuck in the sand.
But you kept him at arm's length, and now he must confess
He's glad to get out by the skin of his teeth as he gets you off his chest.

It was a hair-raising time; he thought you were his friend.
But you went with a gut reaction, and he took it on the chin.
You've got a chip on your shoulder, but your feet are on the ground.
You worked your fingers to the bone, but his mind, it was unsound.

And you were just following your nose with a mind like a steel trap.
He was sitting there on his hands, living in luxury's lap.
You were not so hip. You left him no way to save face.
He had a brainstorm. A mind's a terrible thing to waste.

Your poor heart has been broken, yet you rock back on your heels.
His eye was on the throttle, but your hands were on the wheel.
He was in fat city. It was a bill you could not foot.
It's all no skin off my back, no ifs, ands, or buts.

His head was in the clouds; now his back's against the wall.
You had a knee-jerk reaction, and, boy, he took a fall.
Now your nose is to the grindstone, and my mood is turning blue.
He gave me a knuckle sandwich; and I've had a bellyful of you.

So he can shut his motor mouth, and you can close your eagle eye.
Body parts is body parts coming through the rye.
I just can't keep abreast, so try this on for thighs:
I was one of your pupils, but now we don't see eye to eye.

I keep an ear to the ground and a finger to the wind.
I gave you both a leg up, but you fell back down again.
So don't give me no lip; don't even try to speak.
My head may be up in the clouds, but your ass is up the creek.

Yes, I think your acts are criminal, and you know crime never pays.
I put my money where my mouth is, to coin a phrase.
Now everyone's heard your story, and it's just like I've said.
Yes, we may all have our problems, but yours are mostly in your heads.

I can tell you, sometimes love is war, and I don't want to come to harm.
You might that I'm just a heel, but this is my farewell to arms.
Now you all see that parts is parts; yes, there is a master plan;
I've done my best to keep you on your toes, so won't you please give me a big hand?
