Clinton, sorry you feel that way about There Were Roses. Maybe if you were from the north of Ireland, as I am, you wouldn't feel that Tommy Sands' lyrics were sappy. There are lots of songs with maudlin or saccharine lyrics, but I don't think this is one of them. How about 'Having My Baby" by Paul Anka?
