A lot of non-feminists might not find it to be positive. I always wonder if it offends Christians. My mom sings it and she hasn't been booed off the open mike with it yet...people even request it. I guess for some people at least, it's a fair question with no clear answer. It's always in her Xmas set. I guess after "Christmas in the Trenches" which she can barely complete without choking, and sometimes has to strum/pick while reassembling composure, everyone's in the mood for a lift.

Did anyone mention Cris Williamson's "Song of the Soul" yet?

I love this thread. There are so many darned sad songs: war, lost love, lost homeland, lost hope, it can take some serious (?!!) thought to come up with balanced sets.
