The rule used to be that the more expensive clothes were sized with smaller numbers than the cheaper clothes. About 25 years ago, the most expensive dress I had was a size 2. It was exactly the same size as the much less costly 6's that made up the rest of my dress wardrobe. (sigh - now I'd be real happy with a 10).
