Scrump -
The news report said that the attack (and implied that the outages) lasted only about 3 hours, but there were still an "unusual number" of mainline servers offline 8 hours later.
North America has 50 servers, and the same 8 are still shown as offline or at very low performance. It's not unusual for two or three to be shut down, but this is a bit more than normal.
Europe has 25 servers, with 5 still down.
Australia has 7 servers, with one down.
The North American group is the only one of the five regions still at 80% capacity, although the regions are all above 60%.
It can take quite a while to get back to full usefulness after a significant attack of the kind this appears to have been, and sometimes the most heavily hit servers may decide to just stay down for a while to avoid repeats or until they work out better defenses.
With alternate routings available, it's not likely that the net attack was the main reason for the 'cat being lazy, but Max will have to tell us what happened - if he feels he needs to.
