Bond, Harry Potter, Tolkien, etc, and now The Queen - in spite of the number of Brits on screen or behind the camera, they've all been made with American money, and all the profit from the films goes to America. Therefore they're American films, because they're only financing British individuals in film work and not supporting a continuing British film industry.
