I must say I'm amused by the image of Cash sitting down with pen & paper racking his brains, unable to remmember the words. Didn't think to ask June. Or to get on the phone and ask Willie or Waylon. Or anybody.
He re-wrote it because he wanted to. I think he did a fair job of it, but I like the other better.
