Andy - you beat me to it!!
I can remember Packie very well for a number of reasons, other than for his great singing and whistle playing.
I remember one night at the Folk Club in Banbury he was performing with Bonnie Shaljean and there was a very noisy punter at the back of the room, I simply tapped him on the shoulder to ask him to be quiter - and he gave me a "Glasgow Kiss" - I was laid out and very bloody and have had sinus problems since!
Secondly, at Sidmouth in the Beach Store he was compare for the Bothy Band - and at the end of a great evening after thanking everyone Packie said "If you are driving home, be careful - Because I'm walking."

A Great Man and I wish him a very happy day.
