You got that right, Skipy. And there are a few other places where that applies...

My brother tells this story on himself: A door at his house was too long and dragged on the floor. He took it off its hinges, laid it across a couple of saw horses and cut off a couple of inches.

He rehung it and it was too short. So he took it back to the saw horses and sliced off another inch. Rehung it and it was still too short.

A professional carpenter with great reluctance accepted some gilted wood to make a picture frame for a friend of his. It was expensive stuff and if he goofed it...

He carefully measured - two shorter lengths and two longer - and cut two of the lengths, one longer and one shorter. Did the next one and discovered that he had cut short one of those he had designated as being longer. Anyway, he thought, no problem. I'll just use the other.

So he cut another length. And, he told me, Damned if I didn't do it again.

(I realize it has nothing to do with this. I also realize that I messed up the story- I don't remember exactly how it went.)

Welcome to the Cat, Length.
