well, the lotteries 'can' just be viewed as a way to donate to a charity, or the school system, or whatever they spend the profits on in your area. Then a few win some money....gamble a $ a week and who knows?
But they unfortunately are treated by many who can't afford it as a get-rich-quick scheme.
