Guest, Brian Peters - I had never thought of it as being traditional Irish until I looked it up. In fact I even went so far as to see if there was a Howden in Ireland but I couldn't find one. I always thought it was from Yorkshire so I'm glad you've mentioned it in your post. Lincs is much closer to Yorkshire!
