But wait a minute. If you could get those recordings onto the computer, it would be fairly easy to then run them through some very basic editing to remove some of the noise and hiss from the recordings. The big warts would remain intact, but the sound would be clearer.

I've never tried getting cassette or vinyl onto a computer and don't know enough about sound engineering to do this for you or I would. However, if you could get a song onto the computer with some local help and then email it to me, I could try playing with it to see if I could improve the sound quality with the software I have. Not promising much. Others here know more about it than I do.

Can anyone near you help you with this kind of thing? Maybe one of those sound guys near you could take just one song, improve it for you and give you something to help you make your decision. You could pay for just one and then decide if the investment is worth it for all of them.

I personally think your stuff is worth getting remastered, although I agree that we all would love it any way you get it down.
