Thread Name: Bronze VS Steel
Subject: RE: Bronze VS Steel
I can't answer about the E and B strings as all the sets I use seem to be plain steel.I have used Brass wound strings for the past 25 years or so becuse of the same problem with body chemical reaction to anything else. They are quite a bit brighter than phosphor-bronze but retain that brightness for a long time.I also used to kill a set of strings in one night, but with the brass wound I've gone months without having to change strings.Plus, once they're tuned in they stay there like I had welded the tuners. Part of that is my guitar, but the strings really respond. I used to use Guild special alloy brass, but they have become exceedingly difficult to find. Now I get D'aquisto Brass Masters over the internet for about $3.50 a set.Use them on both the six-string and the twelve. rr
