They actually closed schools in some districts in eastern Kentucky, and in Putnam co. WV several weeks ago because of rampant viruses that were laying so many students out.

Some several viruses have been sweeping the schools and workplaces here (NE Piedmont, NC) for the past several weeks. My kid missed a week + of school with one nasty virus that followed right on the heels of another, milder virus. 25% of the middle school were out Friday week with assorted viruses.

So far--I've dodged the bullet(s).
