Tommy Steele recorded a song called Kookaburra, but it was different from the one here. IIRC the lyrics went something like:

Kookaburra, kookaburra, why the laughing?
Kookaburra, kookaburra, I can see
The reason why you think you're funny
Don't you dare to laugh at me.

I don't know anything else about the song, I can just remember it from yonks ago (probably the 1950s).
