Fair comment, Chanteyranger. Those fighters never knew when to quit. I read a book about "The Great White Hopes". When Jeffries was dragged out of retirement to fight Johnson virtually all of America assumed he'd win. Jack taunted and knocked him around for rounds before knocking him out. The public reaction to Jack Johnson was virulent and he showed amazing courage in turning up at all, let alone being so brash about the whole thing. Corbett and Sullivan are on film together when they turned up to "see the ****** beaten".
Peter Jackson fought a terrific no-contest with Corbett who apparently didn't do him the courtesy of calling him Mr. Jackson.
