CORNISH KNOBS

(also known as Fairings (just as well as he recipe comes fom the WI).
'Fairings', says Ms Grigson, could be a ribbin or trinket to give o a girlfriend but ofen they were something sweet which did for the parents as well. (Or possibly the other way round).

125g strong flour
quarter tespoon salt
teaspoon each of baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, mixed spice
60g butter
60g sugar
grated rind of lemon
2 tablespoons golden syrup

Mix up, Throw in compost bin. Go to shop.
