Not as far as I'm concerned, Frogprince. I don't think Jesus ever tried to spread the teaching that HE exclusively was God and that other people weren't...although the Christian Church certainly has done promulgated that teaching. I think his message was that God is equally within everyone and that they need to recognize that in order to actualize it. He is reputed to have said that we all can do what he did, and even greater works. That implies to me that we ALL are God (potentially) just as much as Jesus himself was, but he had brought himself to a greater level of conscious awareness of that, thus enlightening himself.

That is also the message contained in most Asian spiritual disciplines...that God (or the Divine) is implicitly present in an equal way in all beings...but their own tiny sense of separate conscious identity...their limited sense of mortal "self" (out of which arises fear and selfishness) blocks them from experiencing themselves in full God-consciousness. Full God consciousness manifests as unlimited and unconditional love for all beings. It is exemplified in qualities such as mercy, kindness, generosity, and non-judgement of the intrinsic worth of others.

If Jesus was what he appears to have been, he had achieved God-consciousness. This didn't mean that he was therefore "God" in any exclusive sense...nor would it apply to his children in that way, if he had any children. You cannot inherit enlightenment, you can only achieve it through your own efforts.
