Thread Name: good instrument makers
Subject: good instrument makers
I am lucky enough to own a wheatstone concertina that is serviced and looked after by Steve Dickinson, the way the action is set up, allows me to play more skilfully than I could on a less responsive instrument, the same applies to my FYLDE guitar, upon which I can play right up the neck and the action is perfect. I was listening to a recording on the comhaltas website this afternoon of Damien mullane, playing beaUtifully on a one row melodeon, however much of what he was doing, would not be possible on a hohner,as the action is not responsive enough. Musicians have to be skilled but we also require good makers and repairers who can produce instruments that have the response musicians need. does anyone know who makes Damiens one row, because getting decent one rows in Ieland is a real problem.
