Shortly before he died, I was lucky enough to record Ivor Cutler for the Andy Kershaw programme.
Half way through the first half, having noticed something, he stopped mid-song and said.
"Hey you in the front row.....Are you recording me?.......(Long Pause)...............Don't."
I've also heard of a well known artist actually walking off stage, having noticed someone with a video camera.
So Lizzie, don't assume that all artists are that keen to be recorded.
Best to ask first.
People have asked me, and I've generally agreed, on the promise that it's purely for personal use.
For you, music is just a hobby, for others, it is a very precarious, and badly paid career.
So, in future. Just ask first.
Or, take the consequences.
