Perceptive Bystander, I have litle to add. I've spent the morning talking, separately, to two sadly underestimated and criminally underpaid performers who have now vanished to do all the stuff Mrs Route fails to take into consideration.

Possibly she imagines her beloved dishevelled duo simply wake up at 5 p.m. and think 'Oh right, we have a gig'. Stroll along and go on at 8, pack up at 11 (of course, someone else does this, like the vast unpaid road crew provided by the venue?) and go home to bed at around 11.30.

Well, wrong. Even they rehearse sometimes and it must take a good half hour to write a rant. Haven't they spent the past 25 years driving around the rocky shores of England? And good for them if they can afford to laugh off being bootlegged. Most can't and anyway, it's only common politeness to ask before recording (viz Ivor Cutler, above).

But no, with Mrs Route it's all 'me, me, me'. Which is absolutely NOT what the folk family is about, in (most of) my experience.
