Is the song "Haste to the Wedding", 1768? The tune was known earlier to the Irish as "Carrick Fergus", and maybe "The Dargle", and the Scots had the earliest known version as "The Small Pin Cushion"."The Dargle", apparently to the same tune, was an Irish song commencing "Come haste to our wedding". Whether this was older than "Come haste to the wedding" I do not know, the estimated date is close to the 1768 date of "Come haste to the wedding".
Confusing also is that there are more than one tune called "The Dargle". The tune "A Trip to the Gargle" is "Haste to the Wedding". The tune "The New Dargle" is not.
Again, what are we looking for?
