Subject: BS: Airlines - What do you get ?
I'm flying to Germany in July for a few weeks so I had a look at Expedia – a site which let's you choose your route then go for the cheapest flight, suitable time etc. Heathrow is about half an hour from me by special bus and I want to go to Wurzburg where I'll be met by friends so Heathrow to Frankfurt is the route. There's a railway station at Frankfurt Airport with a direct line to Wurzburg so no cheap airline flying from Stansted or Luton and landing somewhere out in the countryside. A fairly simple task. Heathrow – Frankfurt, any time, any airline, single flight only, tourist class, 9th July. Click go! After a few seconds a list appears. Cheapest flight is with BA – direct flight, takes 1hour.38mins, cost £48.80. I won't fly BA as a matter of principle. Their latest ploy of charging for a second bag in the hold, even within the weight limit is just too much. Next cheapest flight is with Lufthansa – direct flight, takes 1hour .30mins, cost £52.80. That'll do me! For interest's sake, I scrolled down the list and discovered, right at the end Lufthansa/SAS – change at Copenhagen, takes 4hours 10mins, cost £898!!!!!!! I wonder what you get for your money? Presumably solid gold cutlery which you can take with you, met at Copenhagen by the Danish Royal family and taken for lunch and maybe a free guitar for in-flight entertainment? Anybody have any ideas?
