Well, the Mister and I play mostly 19th century music (we're living history reenactors) so we almost always go without amplification because is isn't authentic to the time period. Not a problem because I have a big voice - although a time or two I really wished for a microphone. I guess my answer is, I prefer to play acoustic, but I like listening to just about everything.

Here's one thing I don't understand, tho.... I watched an "unplugged" concert on PBS one night, and even though the band was playing acoustic instruments, they were plugged in! Wuzzupwiddat?
