What you have proved is that the British invented a new name (even the article you use as authority says only that they were the first to use that name) for a type of incarceration that was mentioned in historical writings as far back as ancient Egypt, Greece, Persia, and Rome.

Apart from the name, concentration of potential enemies in confined areas was nothing new.
