No kidding, eh, Dickey? That's interesting...and amusing.
We have a tiny little Communist Party here in Canada too...and I do mean tiny. I think they had some kind of disagreement on policy a few decades ago and fractured into 2 even tinier little Communist Parties, but I'm not sure about what they call themselves. They have never elected anyone and they never will. They command a sliver of the vote so small that it will never even show up on a graph anywhere.
Anyone being in a Communist Party in either the USA or Canada in the present era is analagous to someone being in a Reformed Baptist Party in Saudi Arabia or a "White Supremacy" Party in Japan or Botswana. (har! har!) It's just a pathetically hopeless proposition from day one guaranteed to achieve absolutely nothing, but some people are attracted, like Don Quixote, into being "a voice in the wilderness" and taking on an impossible task.
I knew a young guy in the 90's who only liked musicians that no one else in his age group was interested in. He was crazy about Hank Williams, for example. No one else his age listens to Hank Williams.
You see, he simply HAD to like something that no one else he knew appreciated or even knew about, because that made him feel like he knew something that they didn't! It's very special when you feel that way. I think that's what it would be like to belong to the Communist Party in the USA or Canada. Your special brand of uniqueness would be guaranteed to remain unsullied forever by the vulgar smell of either success or general acceptance. What could be more perfect than that? ;-)
