The only thing new to me in the story is that a judge was involved.

Around here, every county has a jail, but there aren't many Youthful Offender Places, and the nearest one to our county is 4 hours away by car. When a Youthful Offender gets a stay in the Youthful Offender Place he (the one for Youthful Female Offenders is considerably closer and there actually aren't very many of them) is taken there by a Sheriff's Deputy.

I have been told by these deputies, who like this duty, that before the ride starts, the Youthful Offender is told something to the effect that "It's four hours, I listen to the radio and YOU'RE not touchin it."

And on comes the polka music, all the way across Wisconsin.
