It's possible (or even likely?) that the existence of the manuscript is unknown to any of the deceased author's relatives. So if you were a cheat, you could just publish it under a false name (which would be a pen-name for yourself), then claim all the royalties yourself. Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
