Ray, I live near you - name the pub so I can avoid it!!

I am not sure what the way around this is. It seems one of those occasions when they have you by the short and curlies. I usually drink tonic water as sort of best value - or a virgin mary if they have all the makings, celery salt, Tabasco and Henderson's Relish. (with s tick of celery too - but I can pass on that).

I have just stopped spending money in pubs locally.

I simply drink at home more.
