I was about to recomment the NYTimes areticle referred to above. It brings up interesting points for speculation.   Many reasons to run and to not run, many nuances of male vs female, the purposes of running vs not running, and more.

I have to agree that this if finally someone, I percieve, to be as honest and idealistic as we get these days. And, yes, that comment re: Carter is right on the mark.   Perhaps we would have the pre-cursor to Carter (years before) HST.
