No sod it, I don't expect to write a better one than last time - making it the title track of the album. And that got nowhere.
However I felt the same, about the same time last year. if something occurrs to me I'll write it and send it in.
It was a good night, with Mark playing very well indeed. probably the best performance by him, I've ever heard. he's really has put the hours in over the jigs and reels stuff and he is bloody good. Most guitarists are either despicably clockwork sounding, or complete rubbish - you see its almost melodic guitar, but the rhythm element has to very strong indeed.
Mark has pretty much cracked that broonzy/stivell equation that most guitarists who try it, make such a dogs arse out of: and most of us don't try. there are numerous ways to go wrong -like the antiseptic feel that very good guitarists achieve - but somehow lose that rough drive that people like Broonzy and Josh White made an essential part of the instrument. Also, some of it has to be improvised - otherwise it is stale. what can I say, ten out of ten - mate!
