Just to fill you in a bit, Dr price. I am English, of Welsh ancestry. For most of her adult life, my great-aunt Julia lived in the village of Pennrhynside ( can"t vouch for the spelling ! ) on the Little Orme, in Llandudno, and I loved to visit her there. In 1965, whilst in Aberystwyth, I met with Cayo Evans and his chums,of the Free Welsh Army, and they were both hospitable and charming !! ---More like an Ealing Comedy than a Terrorist Organisation, and I mean that in the nicest possible way !! What saddens me, is the recent spate of anti-English sentiment which has sprung up, almost out of nowhere, in the last few years, and the upsurge in "regionalism" ,where people seem to be hell-bent on turning on, and destroying, the bonds that have been built up between the English, Welsh, and Scottish over so many centuries. As I said, it is even evident in Cornwall now, and I am deeply saddened when, at major sporting events involving England, Wales or Scotland, the English are always referred to as "The Enemy " , as if we were still living in the Dark Ages. You are welcome to "stick up " for Wales---indeed, so you should, and I applaud you for it . However, I am sure that you will admit that there is,in Wales today, a section of the populace whose attitude towards England is less than charitable . If, in speaking up in protest, and in defence of my own country, I have offended or upset you, then I apologise, and ,of course,I apologise unreservedly to Ned also, but please try to remember that English people have feelings ( and opinions ! ) as well.Believe it or not, some of us are sensitive enough to feel quite hurt, and confused, when we encounter anti-English feelings in Wales. So try to forgive us our pain.
