Bubblyrat, to further reassure you: I've been online with the same old computer for nine years. I use free AVG (antivirus). I don't open unsolicited emails or doubtful attachments, I delete them. I don't download cutesy cursors or smileys or bitty 'fun' software. If a friend sends me a scary warning, I check the legit virus update sites, and snopes.com (if you don't know this site, bookmark it, they deal with hoaxes of all kinds, on and off line). I scan/clean/defrag regularly.

I have never been infected with a virus, only rarely had one caught by AVG, and just once found a trojan, in all those years.

And I do remember how nervous I was when I first got the computer. ;-)
