I have a recording of a song in gaelic sung to the tune of Barbara Allen, but it is unclear (at least from the liner notes) when the words met the tune. In fact, the liner notes make no mention at all of the tune, which I would have thought would have been worthy of some slight comment. The gaelic words, as translated, have nothing to do with the usual storyline of Barbara Allen. (Another on the same CD is sung to the tune of The Girl I Left Behind Me.)
