Truly a great man.

In my opinion both him and Padraig Pearce were the key figures in the Rising, although without Connolly's committment to action it's possible the Rising might never have happened. However, without Pearce issuing the declaration from the steps of the GPO the significance of the Rising would have not been the same.

I agree though Mick, Connolly was a man of the people and a committed socialist and his prime concern was the rights of workers - a fact often overlooked by people who see him just as a truculent Irish Nationalist.
