Thread Name: What to pack for a Folk festival/weekend
Subject: RE: What to pack for a Folk festival/weekend
Most of the above, and then some. Any of my friends would be happy to tell you that I don't travel light. If anyone has forgotten anything, I'm the one they come to because it's pretty certain I will have it.

I'm in the process of packing for The National Folk Festival in Canberra this weekend - leaving on Thursday morning. There are a few special things one has to consider for this festival. One is that the weather is capable of huge temperature changes between the day and the night, so a great variety of clothes is needed, including very warm bedding. I always take a hot water bottle too, because my feet get cold, and unless I can warm them up, I find it impossible to warm the rest of myself up.

Another feature of this place is that the ground is rock-hard, and it is very hard to hammer pegs in. The last time John went to this festival, he took a drill to make the holes for the pegs!

Another thing I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned, is a highlighter pen to mark the things one wants to see in the program. I might take a selection of colours this time, because having looked at the program online, the events on the program have a yellow background, much like my usual highlighter colour. If the printed program is like that, I will need pink or a strong green for highlighting.
