A few rambling additions:

Mary, I sent her an Email scan of the music from the hymnal I quoted above, a prized find at an antique store a couple of years ago ~~ not one of the little Stamps-Baxters but a full length softcover hymnal with 345 songs.

I would imagine it was the predecessor of Heavenly Highways, what I consider the definitive hymnal for songs of this type ~~ certainly when you consider that it is still in print. I found it at Barnes and Noble (but not Amazon) for $12.95, which I thought a bit high, but I see they have added a $5.00 Service Charge, which brings it back down into the range that I would expect it to be found in your local Bible/Religious Book Store.

The song was copyrighted 1939, the same as the year of publication for Favorite Songs And Hymns. For authorship, it said arr. and H. F. M. ~~ that would be Homer F. Morris, one of the compilers, along with W. W. Combs, and Virgil O. Stamps, and J. R. Baxter, Jr. themselves! It is obviously a lot older than that, but I can't find just how old at the moment.

I also checked at the Cyber Hymnal but was surprised to see that it was not included. "This site has over 2,100 Christian hymns and Gospel songs from many denominations. You'll find lyrics, scores, MIDI files, pictures, history, and more. This worship and teaching resource is provided as a public service." What I like about the Cyber Hymnal, is that it is constantly being improved and added to. Just check their Recent Additions, and you'll see that they added three songs on March 26 ~~ that's today!

Just thought I would add what I consider to be the two best sources for finding the old time hymns.
