Jim, may I recommend to you her books? In addition to being one of the great singers of all time, she is also an accomplished author. She and George are also known in the folk community as collectors of the first order. She was awarded a Fulbright grant to study the links between the mountain music she was raised with, and the music in the back country of Ireland, Scotland and England. During this time she "discovered" Elizabeth Cronin, and was delighted that they knew songs in common.

Her whole life is a wonderful story with much yet to be written. And the best part ........ Jean, George, and son Jon are some of the nicest folks you will meet anywhere.
